Pic of the day: Screenshot from the demo of Industry Giant.
Was long time in town today. Spent much of evening reading the
history
of superhero comic books. A well researched website and full of covers
scanned in to illustrate various aspects and events.
Oh, and also been reading a bit philosophy again, and science history.
It is somewhat thought-provoking that during most of history, philosophy
was in higher regard than science. And for much of that time again,
theology was consider the superior philosophy. Things have certainly
changed.
Oh, and while I was in town I looked again for a PC strategy game
called Industry Giant. It is supposedly translated from German and
I think it is distributed by Interactive Magic. The computer games shop
still think they can get it for me, even though it is already starting
to get quite some months old. It has a look and feel similar to
Transport Tycoon, but the underlying strategy is different. In Industry
Giant, you carry raw materials to factories, then goods to shops. The
revenue from the shops (and factories) is what gives you income, and is
the focus of the game, while the transport is more incidental. I have
the demo, but it limits the time you can play each time.
Man, this sounds really shallow. And I admit that I can be that. I'm a child playing games and reading comics. I am a dress-up doll sorting through my wardrobe for matching clothes. I am a grown-up trying to survive in an ordinary world, and occasionally even help others. I am a writer wrestling with words, trying to share visions still dim. I am a concerned citizen, a philosopher; and an old man pondering the shortness (and sweetness) of life, the certainty of death, and the uncertainty of the beyond. I am them all, at once, and much more. I am a human, and I guess I should as well break down and admit it.
