Coded green.
Pic of the day: Typical Jpop-friendly page on imeem.com. The small picture of a ridiculous boxing match is a Norwegian ad. The green header on the browser says "Ingen svindel oppdaget" - no swindling detected. I have to agree with that. The place seems almost too good to be true, but for now at least it is. imeem.comI have joined a social media site called imeem. Unlike the social blogging sites, the hub of this one is its database of music and movies. Users can upload their media, which are verified by a separate service, and can listen to each other songs or watch each other's movies. I assume this is legal, at least when done correctly. They certainly seem to have gotten away with it so far, at least. To be honest, I have mainly used it to listen at work to J-pop songs I have at home. Once the MS home server is available here in Norway, I won't need convoluted solutions like that. It sounds like it can be nice for a lot of people, though. They get to listen to their friends' music and find new songs they like. And the same with video. The pages I have seen there were really amazing in a teen kind of way: Lots of pictures and effects. Too intense to be comfortable for someone as old as I, but really impressive. I could not have made something like that, I'm afraid. Not just (or mainly) for technical reasons, but I don't have that kind of "art sense". But this is kind of obvious if you look at my site, so I don't need to elaborate on it. ^_^; I have to add one more thing. The site asked for my gmail password when I registered, so it could check if any of my mail friends were on there already. I declined. I haven't heard of any trouble with them using the password for anything, but my passwords are kind of sacred to me. You can check manually, so I would recommend the same for you if you try it out. Giving anyone your gmail password (and I believe the same counts for most other mail services) would actually be a breach of contract, too. You could lose your email account if they found out. Anyway, the place is a treasure trove of Japanese music, and probably all other sorts as well. When I search online for a Japanese song, imeem usually comes up on the first or second page. That's how I found them in the first place. |
