Pic of the day is from the strategy game Industry Giant. It is quite fun.
The computer opponents are said to be quite clever. I wouldn't know, I am
just playing along without competition, experimenting with various types of
transportation (the most difficult part of the game, it seems to me) and
having fun watching the cities grow. I particularly love to take small
towns and make them grow by building shops and roads, and see people move
in and build a great city.
I managed to get to work before I should teach e-mail, though I did sweat
to get the presentation equipment ready. Luckily the sunshine of the
latest days was replaced by heavy greay rain clouds, so the pictures were
easily visible. I think it went fairly well: It is easy stuff, mostly
a question of motivating people and giving them the tiniest spark of
self-assurance needed to get going. As an added bonus, it seems that the
local chief of staff is converted. Meaning he will distribute a lot of
stuff over e-mail, and use the built-in response checking to follow up
that people actually read the stuff. Yay!
The temperature hovers near the freezing point, which is bad news for
those who need to drive in this weather. In the early morning, rain
froze on the roads, making a very slippery surface. It got a bit better
later in the day.
Visit the Diary Farm for the diaries I've put out to pasture until they
buy the farm:
