Brain, or perhaps not

Last night as I went to bed, I had a runny nose and throat, so I told my brain to wake me up at 6 so I could clear my throat. I hate to wake up gasping for breath, it reminds me too much of the bad old days when I was an asthmatic child. The brain, trying to fit things in with the natural sleep cyclus, woke me a quarter to six. But after coughing and swallowing and various breathing exercises, I did not fall back into deep sleep. I drifted in and out of light sleep for a a couple hours. Then I started to think about my early teen years, which led me to think about sex, and then I knew there would be no more sleep that morning. So I got up and finished some writing on my old computer (it is still excellent for writing) and took the nine bus to town to play The Sims all day.

On the bus I chose to meditate rather than read, because of the lack of sleep. After a few minutes meditation, I went to sleep while sitting. (This works fine as long as you don't go into deep dream sleep, where the muscles are totally relaxed.) Three minutes before the destination, I woke up automatically. I love this brain! Big thanks to the designer. I don't know what I should have done without it! :)

As planned, I played The Sims most of the day, and took the bus home half past nine in the evening. I did have a meal in the middle of the day, though, at McDonalds. It wasn't that full on a Sunday, though the crowd swelled while I was there. (And that was hardly my fault.) Mostly families with children. Despite this, there were many happy faces. Even some of the children were jumping with joy, despite being children. Oh well. At least they will become adults, if they live long enough.

Sim children are not so lucky. According to the hand book, the Sims can have babies who then turn into children after three days of round the clock care. The children never grow up. The family is stuck with them! Aieee!

I haven't come that far in the game. I am still exploring the simulated mysteries of simulated matrimony. Juggling two careers with jobs that start at different times of day (or night) can be bad enough. At least they don't quarrel! Though I had an overly friendly sim neighbor dance with the sim wife, and it took sim days for the sim feelings to return to normal happiness, involving spontaneous exchanges of gifts and back rubs. I can see how polygamy may not be quite as practical as I have generally imagined. Too bad!

Got a cough this time.
