Pic of the day: And for good measure I still have Sims 2 Pets ("Dyreliv" in Norwegian, meaning "Animal Life"), because there can never be too much cute. Except the Sims 2 pets are decidedly less cute than the rest, so I rarely play them.

"Pining for a cat"

On my way to work in the morning, I found myself humming a snatch of a popular song from some years ago. Except, as often happens, the muses in my head had replaced some of the text, the way preschoolers often do. People from my generation will likely recognize which song it is taken from, even after that.

It ain't right, with dogs like that,
to be pining for a cat
or two...

Yes, "It's a heartache" with good old Bonnie Tyler. She is on my Last.FM internet radio station, but then again there must be hundreds of songs there by now, and I do have other hobbies too. So I knew it was a few weeks since I heard the song. Of course, it sounded slightly different when she sang it:

It ain't right with love to share
When you find he doesn't care
for you...

The version by my muses was actually more relevant. I had been spending time at the electronics shop lately, and looked at the game Catz for the Nintendo DS. "Because there can never be too much cute" says the box. But unfortunately there can be too little time, and so I had not bought it. Besides, I already had Nintendogs, which I stopped playing after a month or two. Thus the doggerel about dogs and cats. ^_^

But the fun does not stop here. No, this is where it begins. I come to work, and after a while I turn on my Internet radio. And guess what song it plays? You are so right! "It's a heartache" with Bonnie Tyler. Could it be that I not only remembered the catz from the previous days, but also the song from today... before it happened?

More likely this time it was what I read in Scientific American (and at least one other place at about the same time!) that the average person experiences about 1 miracle a month. If a miracle is something that happens only one in a million times, then it takes around one month to notice a million things. I guess some of us notice more things than others... with a little help from the muses in our head?
