Pic of the day: You know this feeling, right?

Angry bowel syndrome

Or: Disturbing weekly pattern of violent defecation. "Irritable" bowel syndrome seems to mild a phrase. Too much information of a personal nature, though I will probably benefit from it myself if I live long enough, by finding trends in my health. As SuperWoman's professor said: When people are young they think about sex, when they are middle-aged they think about money, and when they are old they think about bowel movements. (Or, in the case of most old people, lack thereof.)

Just like last weekend, I had not urge to eliminate solid wastes this time either. And just like last Monday, I spent a goodly part of the workday doing so (although the "solid" part didn't last long). There is clearly a pattern here, but I don't know exactly what causes it. Apart from the obvious fact that potty use is not something you'd want to do without getting paid for it. On the other hand, I actually have more comfortable things to do even in my job. Especially with the pain and shivering that seems to follow my colon cramps.

I think it is the irregularity of my day rhythm that upsets my digestion. The obvious solution would be to go to work every day, or at least either Saturday or Sunday, but my job does not accommodate this. I am mostly user support, and the users aren't there those days. Hmm, I wonder how long I would have to be there to convince my body that it is business as usual.

Another recommendation from my friends is to eat lots of fiber. Ehn. Fiber tends to speed up the digestion, and five days of the week that is what I don't need. Although actually I eat some fiber already. The oat flakes that I love to eat for breakfast, and sometimes at other meals too, are rich in fiber that is broken down slowly when at all. It is also said to bind some fat, which would be nice. And of course I still eat salad occasionally, despite the price. It just tastes so good. You know, this is kinda ironic, but I honestly think that we humans change our tastes as we grow older. Even ten years ago I could not imagine eating salad without plenty of dressing on. Now a little cheese or egg is what I crave on my salad. Perhaps if I live long enough, I'll start to like cabbage, spinach and broccoli. Though I think that would require divine intervention.

Not that I'd mind divine intervention if it can break this cycle for the better.
