Pic of the day: "Bedside Lover Boy". No, actually, that's the name of the book I'm reading there. And, actually, it's cartoons from 1960 and as such it's not what it sounds like in 1999. Some of the elderly readers may or may not remember LoverBoy, the youthful, irrepressible and permanently clueless husband. I found it in a used books shop. It even smells of the 60es. No kidding. I guess "extremely marital affairs" may be in tune with the theme of the week too, sort of...
An utterly un-eventful day, as far as I can remember. I was pretty tired in the morning, and already I'm bound to be that tomorrow too. And that's the best-case scenario.
I even managed to fall asleep on the bus while reading about new affordable spacecrafts (in Scientific American, February issue). Me being me, that means I have been seriously tired. The "lightcrafts" seem like a good idea. Powered by lasers on the ground and in orbit. Of course, they may have to be used for cargo traffic for quite a while before people dare to travel with them.
24 hours from now, the train will be about leaving for Oslo, presumably with a sleepy Itland and unimaginable quantities of clothes to wear during the 4 days. But for now, I'll be resting in my own oversized bed.
Oh, nearly forgot. A request: Can any of my readership find the English translation of "piggfrie dekk"? I've managed to reduce it from "pig-free decks" to "pin-free tyres" but I doubt that's the actual expression either. What do the English call those small studs in winter tyres, that were supposed to keep them from flying off icy roads? Or were they ever used outside Scandinavia?
