Pic of the day: It's me, or rather my character Winterlord, to the right, and I'm ready to go, ready to show that I'll never let you down! (Screenshot from City or Heroes.) It's me, definitelyI proudly present my latest fad: Listening to CDs. These are overwhelmingly older CDs; so far I have ordered only one single from Japan (Mou Sukoshi ... Mou Sukoshi ... by Atsumi Saori) and will buy one single locally, Everything by North American artist Alanis Morissette. But I have a couple hundred CDs, at least, from the time I used to buy several CDs a month. While there are a few I won't touch anymore, and a few I know by heart, there are also some I listen to with interest. Most of the actual listening takes place at work, where I have a separate office. At home I have City or Heroes, as well as some unwatched anime, so not much listening here. ***A substantial part of my collection is love songs. I have always found the line between love songs and hymns to be blurry at best. But even so, I notice that it makes a real difference to some songs that I no longer have a girl I can love (even in the platonic sense as a best friend). Some of the songs are like closed doors to me now. They simply become too abstract for me to understand with the heart, even though I understand them with my head.
And of course, there are other things which also influence the
experience. Most notably, I was listening to one of my favorite songs
by Chris De Burgh, one which I have given a glowing review in these very
pages: It's Me (and I'm Ready to Go). As I came to the chorus And on that note, I am off to play City of Heroes! |
