Magnus Itland with mobile phone

Pic of the day: This picture is obviously arranged (not to say deranged). In reality, I don't have anyone to talk to, and don't know what to say if I had. But mobile phones are standard now, kinda like underwear ... you may get by without, but eventually there will probably be some occasion where you wish you hadn't chosen that.

Fast forward

My mobile phone has been on almost since I bought it. For this past week, the battery indicator has not budged from full. Now I think I see a slight shortening. I guess this means that if I don't actually use it (and why should I?), it could last nearly two weeks on a full battery. The previous one may have lasted a couple days when it was new. It certainly didn't when it was old ... the next day it was flat, even if it had not even been turned on!

Anyway, I guess this is the kind of small, gradual development that most people don't see because they change their mobile phone every year or two, just as I get a new computer each year (although sometimes a laptop and sometimes a desktop). I wonder how long it can continue like that.

Also in the news, some science institute is about to test whether people react to radio waves like those of a mobile phone when they don't know whether the thing is on or not. The test subjects will be such as have complained about headache when using mobile phones. I don't think I need to tell you what I expect, nor how much attention people will pay to the research when it is published.
