Pic of the day: What happened indeed? No catgirls in the cupboards, but
not exactly business as usual either. Quite unusual business indeed. More weirdnessYou would think that my trials were ended for this time, now that I have moved into my new home. Unpleasant as it was to have to change my timeline overnight, the end result was that I now have a much better place to live. It can even be argued that it is better than the Chaos Node where I used to live before. Being all alone in the house is certainly wonderful: I can do anything I want at any time of day or night, as long as it is not loud enough to wake the neighbors. (Not that I particularly desire to do anything loud enough to wake the neighbors.) But still some ripples in reality persist. Some strangeness that goes beyond the random fluctuations of everyday life. And it is at least indirectly connected to the move. It has to do with money, more exactly borrowing money. I had put aside some money for unusual situations such as this moving... or rather the moving that didn't happen. Now I have to pay double rent for one more month than expected, and I also have to pay a deposit which was not part of the contract for that other apartment. This totals approximately 1 month's pay after tax. It doesn't help that the new floor was a bit more expensive than expected (well, half again as expensive) but I could probably have navigated my way out of that without getting blacklisted anywhere. But to handle those other things in an honest manner I need to borrow some money. Here's the story: ***On Tuesday the 31st of January I visited my bank for the last 25 years and asked for a temporary loan. Given the limited amount and my credit history, they readily agreed. The money would be in my account the next day, said the customer representative. This did not happen, and on Saturday I found it necessary to contact an online credit institution. These too were very positive, and promised to send me a form that day or on Monday for me to sign and return with a little more documentation, as well as to fill in the account number I wanted the money transferred to. Today it is Friday. Nothing had arrived in my mailbox, not even the droppings of their messenger pigeon, when I went to work. So I went back to the bank and politely inquired regarding the lack of communications concerning my loan application. The bank workers were at least as puzzled as I was, and quite stressed. Eventually I got to sign a new application which was written on an old- fashioned form rather than the screen dump I signed the last time,11 days ago. When I came home, there was of course a slip in my mailbox informing me that I had a value mail waiting at the local post office. I suppose I'll go there tomorrow. I wonder if I will end up with three loans, or just one of them, or none of them. Real life seems to still be slightly bugged... but at least it hasn't crashed on me yet. (Touches wood...) |
