Friends
Pic of the day: "Hey! Is that me?"
The young man in the picture is Dan's brother. Dan is the guy who married yesterday, and had a party for ca 240 people today. One of these people was me. Friend of the groom and all. The other 239 or so were ca 230 highly pious pietists who hate and fear sin, and a few relatives (who had a warmer attitude towards sin last I met them). We all had the opportunity to experience ca 6 hours of God-fearing people praising God, the Brotherhood, Elke and Dan (in roughly that order). Elke being the bride of the day, as you may have guessed.

Of course, I enjoyed it from start to end.

The food was good too. I could certainly have gotten more luxurious fare from a restaurant for the money I shelled out on some steam cooker thingie, my gift to Dan & Elke. But then I would not have met a lot of my old friends and checked up on their state of mental health. Which is surprisingly good, considered that they think the world hates them. I think if the world truly hated them, it would have shot them. The world isn't exactly pulling its punches nowadays.

Take Kosovo, for instance, where the Albanians are now doing the mandatory massacres, gang rapes and house burnings, like the Serbs did before the war. This is the World. This is the Flesh. Having to work overtime now and then probably doesn't mean that you are singled out by the Prince of Darkness to bear the brunt of his onslaught against all that is good and pure.

OK, I hope you all appreciate this opportunity to hear about my God-fearing friends. Chances are they will make guest appearances here in the future. Don't worry, this is not the doctor-shooting kind. They do however take ice cold showers if they dream about sex with someone else than their lawfully wed spouse. I don't.

...

It's soon 1 AM now, I'm tired as a dog. Poor Dan & Elke are to drive to Oslo this night in the pouring rain, to reach a plane for their honeymoon. It's the worst (and nearly the only) rain in weeks. It's raining cats and dogs, as the saying goes. I just hope the two turtledoves can make it in this weather. Probably not if they intend to unpack all the gifts. There wasn't nearly enough room on the table for all the presents.

Today's picture also illustrates the reason why I don't usually smile on the diary pics: I don't think of computers as real people. I tend to smile alot when I'm together with humans. With other humans, I mean.
