Small buds

Pic of the day: "We are small flowers who do not yet have names.
Supported by the larger stems, we finally begin to bud
and dream of the future..."
Quote from the manga Kare Kano.

Bokuno supido de

Why am I suddenly starting to post relationship stuff again? There is no real occasion. I guess the season has something to do with it -- it seems to me that people are letting their feelings show more now that the winter coat is off. And it doesn't exactly help that I am making my way through a very romantic manga series, Kare Kano (English title "His and her circumstances"). And their relationship is progressing quite slowly... they have their first one-sided kiss in volume 3, if I remember correctly, and their first mutual hug in volume 4. So it is not so strange if I indentify a bit with it, even though there was never any kissing between my best friend and I. Believe it or not. (If you have seen me, you probably believe it.)

I will now proceed to write the English translation of the Japanese song that is currently my favorite. "Boku no SPEED de" is the ending song after each episode of Mahoraba (the cute and innocent anime I wrote about on Sunday). I also ordered it from cdJapan on Monday. I may be just imagining things, but doesn't the lyrics have some vague connection to yesterday's entry too?

One day, I drew a picture all over a canvas,
a picture of 7-colored dreams.
When I noticed, I was a bit more grown up.
What have I found?
In this aimless daily life,
I found something that's most important.
Yes, it's always all right,
because you are my friend.
Holding these unforgettable memories,
I will start walking in the dream where I got off track
-- at my own speed.

The translation is mostly lifted from Froth-Bite's fansub, although they translated "omoi" as "thoughts". It can also be translated "memories" or "feelings" (most common translation in songs). Like most Japanese lyrics, this one can be translated in several ways. In particular, the song almost completely lacks pronouns, except the "you are friend" and the last line. Even that might possibly be read as "our", but anyway the singular is how I feel now. I'm back in my own dream, moving at my own speed...
