Chaotic thoughts

While in the city where I work, I stopped by a computer shop and looked at wireless networks for the home. I have currently two XP machines, a portable and a minitower, and an ME minitower at the bedroom. With a network, I could play a decent DAoC group all by myself ... OK, that's seriously a luxury problem. But they are getting really cheap now and selling well. There'll be a new batch in next week. Guess I will have forgotten by then. Let's hope so.

There's a new Seven-11 store and a new Narvesen (a Norwegian competitor) both on the main street. I checked out and bought a Norwegian computer magazine with a preview of Sims 2. I have to say, it looks better than I first thought. That is to say, I want it and I want it now! But actually it is not ready until next year. By then hopefully the female Sims will have a bit more feminine hips, like in the current Sims game. It seems that games with polygon-based graphics never have realistic female hips. I guess that makes sense ... There's nothing polygon-like about the real thing. The breasts are already reasonably well developed, though. Oh yes, I'm sure they work a lot on those.

Luckily Sims 2 have other attractions, most notably life phases and genetics. Sim babies now become toddlers first, then children, then teenagers, then adults (by far the longest life phase), and finally pensioners before they die and hopefully leave some inheritance to their offspring. But if nothing else, they now at least leave their genes. Both looks and personality are now a mix of the parents, and a random enough mix that siblings don't become clones. Nice! I kinda look forward to this. But I hope a Sim lifespan lasts for several days at last ... I wouldn't like to only have a few hours with my Sims. Then again, perhaps we should not live with them for so long that we become truly heartbroken when they finally pass on...

Coming home I napped a bit (5 hours sleep last night is not quite enough). Then I played Master of Magic for a few hours. Playing nomads with all white spell books and Stream of Life as rare starting spell. Not quite as uber as starting with Incarnation, but still pretty good. If you have Stream of Life on all cities you can raise the tax like mad and buy as much magic power as you need. And as a builder type personality, I love the double city growth. Not to mention that you arrive much faster at a city size where you can build rapidly. Yay building! That's just the kind of guy I am. I think I was like 12 when I noticed that I liked to build things, and my best friend liked to destroy things. I've been like that ever since. Mostly. ^_^*
