Portrait w/phone cord

Pic of the day:

Itland unplugged

Something unusal, for a change. My two phone lines are dead. The one I normally use for Internet is silent. The one I use (very rarely) for voice calls sounds like it's there, but the moment I try to call it dissolves into a disconnected signal. I hope my lines are not being hijacked by punks using them for some nefarious purpose. There's not a storm or anything unusual around here to explain the sudden disappearance. And I even paid the bills yesterday. (I found them along with some other paper trash, four days after they were due.)

It feels strange to be disconnected like that. I don't exactly panic, but it doesn't feel good either. As with most things in life, phone lines are not particularly appreciated as long as they work. They are just part of the background, like daylight and water. Now in all honesty I don't call voice very often, and people don't call me either. In case of emergency, I could probably use my mobile phone. So the most noticeable problem is that I don't get online.

I can certainly survive an evening without the Internet. Of course, you won't know that until tomorrow, since I cannot upload this diary. If the phone is not back tomorrow morning, I'll try to take this entry with me on a floppy and upload it from work. It shouldn't take more than a couple minutes out of the workday.

Anyway, I'm not supposed to write about work. And 3 days full of Civ3 is probably enough for anyone. And basically, that's what I did today. Well, ate a couple handfull of sweets too. Those jelly ladies are really tasty.

Again, my apologies for the delay, and for obviously not answering any email either, in the unlikely case that I got anything personal. I sincerely hope to get back to you.

The phone came back around 2.45 AM. Bite me if I rewrite anything. Just get the sand out of my eyes and upload this.
