Logs

Pic of the day: The world as seen through logs.

Jogging and fluff

Well, I wrote a non-personal entry again, but it turned red. I think it's a bit early for another red entry. So instead, fluff!

Nights are facing extinction here in Norway, or at least for a while. They get shorter and shorter, and on Sunday morning it was dawn before I headed for the bedroom. (IRC again.) As I did not sleep, I eventually pulled on a colorful jogging suit and jogging shoes and snuck out at 6 in the morning. I'm not in all that good shape, but better than a couple years ago. And the jogging shoes do make it easier to move around faster. The shoes I normally use are heavy and not well suited for sportive motion.

It was incredibly peaceful, only a few birds were up and about. Even the road did not exhibit the roar of a passing car now and then as it usually does. The air was fresh and clear, but there was no dew on the ground. I wound my way down the fairly steep paths of the hill and through an open forest. The green canopy far overhead was still not quite complete, and the ground was well lit even though the sun was not yet up in this valley. A carpet of budding lily leaves were rising from the soft moss and pushing aside the old leaves and grasses of yesteryear.

As I wandered a soft downhill slope, the way was barred by several logs lying across the clearing, some higher and some lower. I noticed that there was a gap between two of the logs, large enough to slide through easily. I looked at it for a while, then turned and took another way. Hello universe, exactly how stupid do you think I am? (And what's with this habit of stringing logs across paths etc?) New Age people say we live in an intelligent universe. I say we live in a universe with a strange sense of humor.

As the English saying goes: "Fool me twice, shame on me."

I napped a couple times during the Sunday, and felt fresh and awake until well into the next night. I also got up today with my usual energy (not that this says much, but I did get up) and work was as usual. Until about 14 (2 PM) when my energy suddenly crashed. Kind of like the batteries on my Toshiba laptop, which go straight from 93% to 0% without warning. The next three hours were a slightly nightmarish haze of fighting against sleep. Carbs did not help. Moving about helped only briefly. Even brainless routine work went slowly. If only the workplace policy allowed a brief nap. But no. People are allowed to go out on the roof and smoke for five minutes, but napping is taboo. Five minutes would have been enough. Well, perhaps ten. Enough to last me for the next three hours, until I could nap on the bus home.

Wake me up when labor unions fight for employee napping rights.

Oh, and I've been over on Emode and found out the color of my aura. It is of course just a party game rather than actual aura reading: A way to put a name on certain facets of your personality. Great was my surprise to find that I had the same "aura color" as Lady Chaos: A clear blue Sapphire, the color of nurturing, empathy and friendly advice. Heh. Heh. No wonder I like her, despite a generation of age difference. (And I am very satisfied with her name, of course. And the fact that she is plagued by desk avalanches just like me. Chaos rules.)

A voice in my head just wanted to inform y'all that "in a modern fast-talk democracy such as ours, the distinction between lawful and chaotic personalities becomes irrelevant". That's what it says. I thought that was kind of funny myself, though I don't actually agree.

The problem with chaotic people is that each is chaotic in a different way. I am sure this also applies to certain people who have the same aura color. :) Chaos squared - not necessarily a pretty sight ...
