Musings of an idle muse

The "voices in my head" (which are not actually voices, only thoughts that have grown big enough to think for themselves) have been active today with making up the cast for yet another fantasy fiction, and some of the story. Rather than give you my opinion on the American steel protectionism, I'm sure you'll prefer to hear the musings of my muses.

Or you could simply come back tomorrow. Chances are, unless acid reflux is fatal, I'll have something entirely different again then. Each day is a special day at the Chaos Node, you know.

It all started with the gay werebear. Yes, I know that sounds disturbing. No, I don't think I'll write hot bear yaoi. I simply don't have the background. Shounen-ai perhaps I have the background for, but it's a bit rusty. Good thing too.

Anyway, Birni (I may have to change the name if people named Birni protest too much) is a hereditary werebear. Even in his human form, he is broad, strong, very muscular, radiating male animal magnetism. Not that he would know. He loves poetry and is also quite gay. In his "battle form" he could tear down a house bear-handed; not that he would want to unless necessary to rescue someone inside. Like all weres in his world, he cannot be harmed by anything less than silver or magic. His IQ is normal for a 19 year old, but his muscular build and round innocent face makes him look slightly less bright.

Theelena (yes, it is pronounced almost like Selena) is a transport magess. Her magic powers are purely transport related. By her own innate magic, she can fly quite well and carry around her own weight. She can also teleport herself and a minimum of weight (little more than her clothes) anywhere in worlds that allow teleportation. Porting other people or luggage is another matter entirely, unless she has equipment or preferably facilities like standing stones, towers etc. She can still do short-distance porting, though, like getting people out of a locked room. She has no combat magic whatsoever, and no fighting skills. Theelena is rather plain-faced, but highly curvaceous and may distract young men more than intended.

Xarya is the warrioress of deadly grace. Not beefy but still more boyish than most girls, she moves with a speed, agility and precision that would make her a deadly enemy even naked and weaponless. Not that you are likely to find her naked and weaponless often. She wears a strongly magical chain mail and an equally magical slim sword that cuts stone like cheese, courtesy of the quasi-religious military order with which she is affiliated. And well, finally a "chick in chain mail" without melons.

Helge-Dag (again, subject to change without notice) is the only earthling in the group, and barely so. He is prettier than a boy has any right to be (and prettier than most girls, too) and not too happy about it. He is terminally shy, a struggling Christian, and a small god. Well, a titan actually. By blind luck, old bloodlines have combined to bring forth the heritage of a group of extradimensional titans who visited Earth for a while, millenia ago. Because of this, Helge-Dag is a magic-energy generator. In a non-magical world such as ours, he is just a weirdness magnet. But in a magical universe, he is a powerful source of magic, though he is unable to harness it himself. This makes him valuable to good and evil forces alike.

I'm kind of sorry that I can't draw even a stick figure well. I actually have mental images of these people, though these images are fleeting and sketchy. For instance, HD's hair was a cause of confusion for the 'voices'. Originally I envisioned him as deathly pale with raven black shoulder length hair, but the voices muttered discontent. After some advice from my friends in the Acid Reflux community, I am starting to lean toward blond, which would be more natural for a Norwegian boy. (The name is Norwegian, though I sincerely hope no one is actually called Helge-Dag. Both Helge and Dag are common boy names, but taken together the name means "holy day", like Sunday or Easter Day, days like that.) I just liked it on principle, but I must admit that it looks a bit hard to pronounce in English.

Not that I expect this to be the next Lord of the Rings or anything. Just the by-product of an idling brain. Perhaps I'll use it in a roleplay sometime.
