Screenshot CoH

Pic of the day: In the boss' chambers ... screenshot from City of Heroes, from the final fight of the Skyway task force story arc, where we fight the arch-villain. And yeah, my character sacrificed himself to save the team, but this would not have been necessary if our defender had not suddenly dropped during the last warehouse mission.

Welcome to the Hotel CoH

My hand hurts, so I'll mostly copy this from my LiveJournal. Besides, it is too funny not to share with you. Especially since you who read this journal are more likely to be old enough to recognize the song (Hotel California ... does that ring a bell?)

Anyway, the prehistory is that I've been playing City of Heroes more or less daily since the start of April, and it still fascinates me. To such a degree, that when I nap, I dream about it. This afternoon while napping, I dreamt that we were 5 tankers (tough-skinned superheroes) holed up in a warehouse filled with 5th column soldiers (Nazis). We weren't all that high level, and it was kinda tough.

This and several other dreams over the last weeks inspired me to this just slightly altered version of the old classic ... (This probably won't make sense unless you play CoH, but it's just so right on target.)

Cobwebs on the ceiling
Pink fire on ice
And she said
We are all just prisoners here
Of our own device
And in the boss's chambers
They gathered for the feast
They stab it with their ice swords
But they just can't kill the beast
Last thing I remember
I was running for the door
I had to find the passage back to the place I was before
Relax, said the contact,
we are programmed to receive.
You can log out any time you like
but you can never leave.

(With apologies to The Eagles.)

Oh, I hope I'll leave someday. But right now, I don't mind playing even in my dreams. (And this seems to be a common feature among players, incidentally. As for me, I had it the same way with Daggerfall, but those dreams were more creepy.)
