Summer forest

Pic of the day: There's been some sunny days, but few hot ones. The forest seems content enough, and truly so am I.

Talk about the weather

As I am writing this, I am 11 days behind on my journal, but I think I would have remembered if anything interesting happened this day. It didn't.

The summer has been rather chilly so far. Of course, this happens from time to time. Either a high air-pressure area comes to rest over Scandinavia or not. This year is a "not". It doesn't really have anything to do with the greenhouse effect, it is just natural variaton. You have to average up several years to see long-term effects. Actually you're not likely to see them in a lifetime.

The greenhouse effect is real enough. But while planets we like to compare to have more CO2 than other gases put together, our planet has its carbon dioxide measured in PPM -- parts per million -- because there isn't as much as 1%, not even as much as 1 promille. So, uhm, don't expect to see the weather of the Carboniferous era return anytime soon, much less the oceans boil away like on Venus. We'll have hot summers and chilly summers, mild winters and biting cold winters, for as long as I live here, I am sure. And I hope that's gonna be long.

The 5 years ago entry was pretty good actually. It is a bit rambling, as they were that year, but the part about storms and waterfalls should be mandatory reading if you really want to know me. Because this is how I am inside, this is how I hope to be remembered, if at all.

Yesterday <-- This month --> Tomorrow?
One year ago: Semi-astral planes
Two years ago: The soul of swords
Three years ago: More dubious e-books
Four years ago: Pottering around
Five years ago: Storms and waterfalls
