New, temporary feature: Rosa the Daggerfall Dressup Doll.
In order to combat the view of roleplaying games as violent, demon
worshipping boy thingies (which they can also be, for the violent
demon worshipping boys) ... I proudly present Rosa Rugosa, Linguist
apprentice and all purpose dress up doll. Sure, she's handy with
a knife, if some of them rats try to get too familiar; but her main
aim in Daggerlife is the study of languages and their use in diverse
societies. And her hobby is clothes, which she will pick up wherever
she finds them. Click here to see what she's
wearing today!
NB: The above picture is just to show her starting outfit. From
here on, Rosa will only be available in link, not as Pic of the day.
Meanwhile, back on Earth, the day started with snow, which turned into almost rain, covering the ground with grey porridge which then froze as the sky grew clear for the night. It's hard enough to walk on this, if you don't have to drive too. But as the saying goes, we should be thankful that we have weather at all; what else would we talk about?
Well, for instance the origin of this .JPG diary. It all started many moons ago when I bought an issue of the family-oriented computer magazine Komputer (in Norwegian). It had, among other more boring stuff, an article about Jennicam, the cult hit website of a young woman who simply let her webcam run all day long, regardless of what she was doing or not doing. The idea seemed intriguing, and I looked up the site on the Net and also read some of the fan sites. I found that there were several such webcams, but I soon found most of them disappointing. It turned out that the overwhelming majority were only active for a short part of the day/week, when the owner wanted to perform. However, one of the very few exception was the site called Cornercam, today known as "EverydayItems". This was not just a cam and some collected fav pics, but also contained some supporting features. One of this in particular I fell in love with, the idea of a JPEG diary. One picture and a daily ramble. In fact, I so liked the idea that I decided to make my own. It is also cheap and reasonably easy to do. I learned some basic HTML from a women's magazine on the Net and set off to build my own virtual home.
