Pic of the day: Daggercows. Screenshot from one of the many farms in Daggerfall, the computer roleplaying environment. There is no reason for this picture except to feed the sick and twisted addiction to all things cow, which is a quite common side effect from reading too much Gary Larson. (And some people are born that way, no doubt.)
Today's real feature: The Chaos Node proudly presents:
The approximate truth about
meditation.
No particular religion needed - just add chair!
This is the third approximate truth (all of them accessible from my
home page). The approximate truth project is meant to give quick and
dirty knowledge (hey, not that kind of dirty!) summarized from common
scientific magazines or books. Where applicable, personal experience
is also factored in. This is the case here. I've written for the
ignorant, not for the stupid. There is a difference there, and I trust
you value it.
As for the extent of personal knowledge in these matters, I've not personally seen any great white lights. At least not during meditation! :) Most of the rest seems familiar, though. Why don't you e-mail me and tell me of your own experiences with meditation (or medication, if that's more to your liking)? I have a fairly open mind and mailbox.
Meanwhile, back on Earth, I finally got the files at work and set my coworkers coworking. And the rain has been pouring down hour after hour. It sure beats the sleet and icy roads.
