Comic book
Pic of the day: Got the monthly fix of American comic books. Here the fabulous Strangers in Paradise by Terry Moore. He is an impressive artist, though I must admit that issue 25 was not quite what I had hoped for ... it seemed sort of disjointed. And Francine was just treated unfairly, in my opinion. I guess this all leads up to her parting ways with David and Katchoo, which is just too bad. I love the interplay between the three. (I also happen to think that two girls for every boy is the ideal social setting. Hey, why are you looking at me like that?)

The actual book inside is in black and white, but at least it seems to be intentional and the style is exploited well. Not like a few other books that seem to have turned black & white to save money. (I feel pretty sure this is what happened to the Elfquest books, and I stopped buying them in short order.)

Finally, I loved the title of the book on first sight. "Strangers in Paradise" - it implies someone who shouldn't by rights have been there, and yet is. I find that quite appropriate for me. It may be a slight overstatement of my current situation, but not too far off. If I could get this good a fate for eternity too (as opposed to getting what I deserve) I should certainly not complain!

...

So how was my day? I got to work an hour late because my intestines were rioting. That doesn't seem quite fair since I've not been drinking in the weekend. Someone else should have had that. OK, they probably have. And I guess I ought to drink a bit wine for my stomach, like the Holy Scripture says. (Then again, the Holy Scripture also says we shall kiss the brethren with a holy kiss, and how healthy can THAT be? You could easily get your skull broken kissing the wrong brethren.)

At work, I fell asleep after a bit of self-study. Which, for a change, was not the study of myself but studying the software alone. With only a penguin for company. Yes, there is an animated penguin occasionally appearing in the teaching software, pointing in the general direction of some part of the screen. The idea is probably to make things interesting. If so, it doesn't help if you've got slightly less than 6 hours of sleep. A trip to town and buying new American comic books did recharge me, though. :)

Oh, and Ageless Girl did not catch the plane. The airport was just packed with people, since it was Friday afternoon. She had to give up due to the queue and aim for the second plane instead. Luckily her comrade picked her up at the airport. I guess people are more likely to do nice things to those who are nice themselves. That's my explanation anyway.

...

Ack - the night is upon me! It's past midnight again and I'm actually getting sleepy. I had hoped to find out how that IRC thing works and try to join the #journals channel. The incredible Gurgle (of "sex is bad" fame) has sort of invited me over to the channel. Sadly, when the Americans wake up, I go to sleep...
