Pic of the day: Screenshot from the strategy game Alpha Centauri. I found it for sale cheap. Time flies! I had not got along to buying it yet, as it was so new and I had so much fun with Civilization II (by the same people, before they broke out from MicroProse and founded Firaxis). I have test driven Alpha Centauri this evening. It was not that bad, during the initial phase of playing at least.

Whining

I don't feel too well tonight. Not horribly sick either, but a little reduced. These last two days, I have had this distinct rotten taste and smell whenever I ate, and sometimes else. It is pretty clear that pus is leaking from the infection in my upper jaw. I still don't know if it's a root canal, sinus or nose that is the primary site of infection; but it seems to be reasonably subdued, as there is no fever. Still, it does not exactly lift my spirits. Oh, and my muscles are aching too, of course.

I wish there was enough doctors here in Norway that we could run to them whenever we had some minor affliction, instead of waiting till we think we're about to die. Hopefully this situation will correct itself with the influx of young people who now study medicine abroad - including the wonderful SuperWoman, my best friend. Provided of course that they don't settle down abroad. What with the long education these days, they spend the exact years studying where humans normally start a family.

In other private news, I think I have set a personal record by spending all the money within a day after payday. Well, the glasses gobbled up nearly half (after taxes, that is - we singletons are taxed quite thoroughly even here in Norway). Then there are bills and stuff. And then I bought a T-shirt and another textile that I have no idea what is called in foreign languages - in fact I'm not sure what it is called in Norwegian. I'll probably show you if I get it home. It's lying at work right now. It's supposed to be outside the T-shirt.

Oh, and I went and fetched the month's main supply of American comics, almost exclusively superhero comics as usual. That cost a little, too. Though I don't buy nearly as many as I used to, a year or two ago. Several of my favorite comics are gone now. Some were never imported. Oh well. It is not like that counts a lot in the larger pattern of things. There are more important things in life than that. Much more important.

OK, I can't come up with something else to complain about, on a personal level. That's it from here, then. Won't destroy the atmosphere by talking about all the good things. Oh, wait. It rained almost all day. :)
