Spoon!
Pic of the day: Is there a spoon? (Slightly obscure Matrix reference.)
...

The installation of new computers at work got delayed by nearly a day. The tech guy who installed the new network had some trouble with the rack of switches. There seemed, he said, to be something wrong with the matrix.

THE MATRIX? I stared at him. Images danced in my head, of cool young people in black and wearing sunglasses, jumping from rooftop to rooftop. It was little more than a week ago that I sat in the large cinema with a cute young girl beside me and watched The Matrix, the movie. Well, actually I watched only part of the time. I closed my eyes during some of the wilder scenes.

Either the guy hadn't seen the movie, or it had not made an impression. He obviously did not recognize the entertainment potential in having our whole project balked by the matrix.

(BTW, we got new parts for the computer after closing time and they seem to work. And we improvised enough that I had quite a bit to do from lunch on out.)

...

Incidentally, have anyone else noticed that there seems to be no more deja vu? You know these brief episodes in which you experience something, and at the same time you are acutely aware that you have experienced this exact situation before, exactly this, but you don't remember where and it all seems kind of weird. Sometimes you even know what will happen in the next few seconds, the next reply to be made perhaps, and it feels important somehow. But before you are able to tell someone what is happening, the perceived snag in the timeline sort of resolves itself.

In the move The Matrix, deja vu was explained by a change being made to the program that was their reality. Then the other day I read someone's funny .sig, which announced a new improved version of reality, with new emotions, new laws of physics, and the capacity for up to 8 billion simultaneous players. And the deja vu bug fixed. And on reading this, I became aware that I have not had a deja vu for months. And the last few ones were very weak - barely a feeling that the current situation was important somehow.

Out of curiosity, I'd be interested to know if this was a global change or just me ...

This night I woke up after 5 hours to clear my throat, and just went to work instead of back to sleep.

Adrift in time?
Yesterday (Yes, I believe in yesterday.)
This month
Tomorrow (if any.)
