Pic of the day: You never knew when you might suddenly need Stuff!

Payday too

The predictions from last year certainly came true. I've paid off the loans. By no virtue of myself I also have a month's pay lying around on my bank account before payday. (I inherited some money from my late uncle.) So do I start systematically putting aside money for some grand goal or even for the next emergency? No. I buy stuff.

Actually, I am surprised by how little stuff I have bought. Normally I would hurry to buy a new computer before I waste the money on bills. I did however buy a brand new .OGG player (it also plays MP3 but I already have an MP3 player). For the next month I am planning to buy an exercise bike, and I will no doubt also buy something electronic.

Even so, I am mildly surprised that I haven't gone wild and spent it all. I am pretty sure I would have done so in the not so distant past. I am pretty sure I still will, it just takes more time. My mind needs to adjust to the fact that I have money instead of debt. Then it will come up with ways to change this unnatural situation.

But for now, I don't have a lot of great ideas. I could buy a real bed, but I don't know how I would get it home, much less into my bedroom. I could buy a new computer, I certainly know how to get those in house. But as of yet I don't know whether dual-core or quad-core computers give the best speed for Sims 2 (it depends on how the program is coded) and I have nobody to ask. My LJ friends who play Sims 2 tend to be women and therefore use laptop computers. (Is that nature or nurture? Perhaps women are just born to have small things on their lap. Back when the portable PC was as heavy as a secretary, it was almost exclusively bought by men.)

But I WILL buy an exercise bike one day, and I will prove it to you with photos. Perhaps I should buy a new camera for those photos? Nah, I already have to scale down the pictures I upload because they would otherwise be gigantic and so detailed you would be able to count my warts. Still, I am going to come up with something. I just know it, because I can feel my human nature writhing in its chains. It is not dead yet. It will be, of course. The question is just whether I outlive it. Watch this space.
