Pic of the day: No! Must resist the temptation to read more about the Alphasmart Dana!

Temptations

I still feel guilty about wasting my money on stuff. I feel so sinful. Actually I am so sinful, but I don't always feel it. On the bright side, the remorse from giving in to one temptation makes it easier to resist another. I am still daily tempted to buy an Alphasmart Dana, but then I think about it and remember that there is nowhere and no time in my day, or week, or month, or year, that I would actually use it. At work I have work to do, and when not, I have computers aplenty. At home I have quite nice computers, both in the home office and in the living room. Outdoors it is too cold in the winter and too mosquito the rest of the year. So I would have to wander off to somewhere else, perhaps a library or something, to write what I could just as well write at home. Not a good idea.

I have sometimes jokingly said that I need a longer commute. Perhaps it really is true. If there were broadband, I might rent some house far out in the countryside next time. If there is a next time, of course. But right now I like it here, and I have all the computer I need. The commute is barely long enough to harvest the cherries in Animal Crossing.

I keep falling asleep early in the evening, then waking up early in the night. I keep going to work early in the morning, and then staying there all day! Since I only have a 90% job, and I now work like 110-120%, my negative time saldo is gradually shrinking. I guess this is nice. It is certainly not going to last. I have no idea what causes this switching around, but it started suspiciously at the same time as NaNoWriMo... The net effect of it is of course that since I sleep the same (if not more) and work more, I have less time for writing. That is not really a problem, since it is not the time but the arm and throat that limit me.

I have also bought some chocolate at work, which I nibble. We are talking about so small amounts that a box of chocolates could last for a week. Dark chocolate is healthy this year, in case you had not read. So be sure to eat it while it is good for you!
