"Harpy birdie" to me

Yes, once again it's my birthday of the year. This time I seem to turn 47. Wheee. A couple LiveJournal friends wrote to wish me "hippo birdie" or similar greetings. I guess when you've seen this many birthdays, some variation is the spice of stuff. Anyway, LiveJournal tries to keep everone updated on who has birthdays on their friends list.

I don't actually celebrate birthdays anymore, but then again I don't really celebrate anything anymore, nor do I mourn many things anymore. You may say that being one year older, at my age, is not much to be happy about. But I say it beats the realistic alternative hands down. In my opinion, which may be wrong, but I am in no hurry to find out.

In the evening, my youngest brother called me. At the time I was walking home from my new apartment after carrying some stuff there, as I often do these days. Mostly clothes, I think. I was most of the way home. Even so, when I came home, my hand was so frozen I could barely feel it, for holding the cell phone. That was after I switched hand once. I don't want to think about what would have happened if not. It's not just well below the freezing point, the wind is making it truly arctic. I hope Nyaa is OK.

Nyaa is the black cat which used to live in my new apartment with the previous owner. He showed up a couple times while I was moving things in, but hasn't been there later. Perhaps he has realized that no matter what happens, things will never be the same again. That even if he returns to the same place, he cannot return to the same time. I am just starting to accept this myself.

SuperWoman called too. She had various things to tell, as usual. It seems she and her boyfriend can finally live in the same place. They have been travelling all this time. She has been living in a suitcase, as we say here, for all these many years, after she graduated from high school. Perhaps she will be able to put down roots now, as they say.

I'm glad I'm not trying to live in Oslo like she does, though. The prices there are horrible. For some reason, Oslo competes with places like Tokyo for Most Expensive City of the World. Last I heard it was leading. Certainly the prices for renting an apartment were crazy. They'll pay twice as much as I for a place that is noticeably smaller. There won't be much tumbling room for two people.

I guess I am pretty lucky after all...
