Pic of the day: "What's important is not the object, but who gave it to you." Words of wisdom from Narue in the anime Narue no Sekai. (Now available in the USA under the name "The World of Narue".)

Carded

Got a postcard from Tsaiko today. Yes, my American dream girl. (The "my" part only applies to the "dream" part, and the dreams are undecided on whether "girl" means "girlfriend" or "daughter" ... in my dreams, she is just there by my side, talking or eating or watching the sunset along with me. Yes, I have low-maintenance dreams.)

It is a wonderful feeling when someone I like and respect also likes me. At least a little bit.

Sometimes in the past I have received Christmas presents which I had the definite impression were simple formalities ... people felt the need to give me a present since I had given them presents and was likely to continue to do so. That kind of things are simply extra luggage. But a few words from a friend can warm the heart, because I see that I have been present in their mind at the time. That I am a name, not a number.

I am truly a low-maintenance person emotionally, am I not? To feel such warmth in my heart for a handwritten card, in this day and age when even love is bought and sold using Internet and American Express, and friendship is a requisite for furthering your career. Or perhaps I am special only in that I admit it. I don't know.
