Bed

Pic of the day: Home away from home. But there's no place like home, especially when it comes to beds.

Chilly, some shopping

The night was bad. I must have woken up dozens of times. The bed is not well suited for lying on my side, and my back is not well suited for lying on my back these days. I did get some sleep, sure, but it was of poor quality. The day made me forget it, though, until now.

In the afternoon, Cutie and her sister and I went shopping. I like shopping, and enjoyed the afternoon, though my back did hurt a little at the end. So did the sister's. There wasn't a lot to carry - we bought mainly small presents, and not all that many. Hopefully we'll be able to go shopping tomorrow too. We went to the mall at Ski, which has a good choice of shops and is reasonably close. It wasn't quite as crowded as I had expected, but pretty busy.

Tomorrow is the last shopping day before Christmas, which means the men (husbands and similar) will be out in force. I expect it to be very crowded. Good thing we got at least some things bought.

In the evening, Superwoman arrived. Her plane was more than an hour delayed and she still did not get all her luggage. But at least she is home. I got a hug! I got a hug! Woo hoo! Anyway, she's looking good. She's lost some pounds in Africa, but it's not too bad now. Sadly she's a bit ill right now, a strep throat or perhaps a flu from the sound of it.

We looked at her pictures from Africa and talked a bit. The family sadly has a TV, which distracted much of the evening. In the night we played Maxi Yatzee (?), a game with 6 dice.

To further improve the day, if possible, Great Earth Mother (the midwife) was there, and Designer Girl. They are both great fun, though Designer Girl tends to fall asleep at odd times. Notably present was also the young brother who always tries to cheat in games. He's growing up and has a great sense of humor, but I'm sure he cheated today again. The sad thing is that if he doesn't, no one would believe him anyway... He's also an avid Risk player. Perhaps we could get into a play later in the holidays.

Tomorrow is mostly reserved for shopping. I still have a few hundred dollars to go. I hope we're healthy enough to go. I don't like SuperWoman's flu-like thingie, and I've got a headache myself. My right ear with the chronic zit is flaring again, too. I'd really need some good sleep now. Sadly that is out of the question.

A good nights sleep is good for your immune system, but it's not quite the only thing that is rumored to have that effect. I've heard the same about sex, laughter and writing about your troubles in a diary. I'm not sure, but it may be that they all work by making it easier to sleep well afterward. I'm not in a position to do a full comparative study, however. (Contrary to what some of you may believe.) For one thing, the walls here are very thin. So laughing out loud would wake up the whole family! :)

Just kidding. You know me, people. There's only the diary left. And not a very good one, at that.
