Pic of the day: Late night portrait.

Worse for wear

My hand is getting worse again. This is common for the time of year, but still no fun. I play Dark Age of Camelot a lot, it is nice on my hands as long as I don't chat. For tactical fighting, pressing a few keys now and then is enough, and I can do that with my left hand mostly. The guild my paladin is in is not very social, at least the time of day I am on. This is good for me, because of the typing. The alliance, on the other hand, is full of bickering. I take no part in that either, so all is well.

Then comes the night, and I have to use the hand I have saved during the day. ICQ. I think poorly with my mouth (out of training) but I think well with my fingers. Besides, speech recognition is too slow and cumbersome and takes my attention from the content of what I am writing. Having to correct twice every sentence will do that to you. So I avoid it when possible. Especially for something as fast-paced as ICQ chat.

It would be improper of me to comment on the things I learn during such conversations. Suffice it to say that I would not willingly swap places. It is good to be me, hand or not. Oh yes, it is indeed wonderful to be me, and I enjoy it ravenously while it lasts. All too soon this life will vanish like a soap bubble, and I will again be without form and without self awareness.

I felt like laughing when looking at a form at work. (This is not about work. This is about me.) It was about job development, which I suppose is a noble goal. Yet they kept using the expression "personal development" in between there. In a hazy vision, I momentarily imagined trying to even begin to describe my goals for personal development to my boss. That's a pretty wild idea, let me tell you. It is at moments like that I really see how different I am now. "Well, mostly I want to try to pass on my holistic view of the universe and the human mind and then prepare my spirit for the upcoming discarnation." Uhm, yes. That would probably be well received.

Do normal people even HAVE a personal development, apart from the acquisition of more status symbols? "He who dies with the most toys wins" seems to be the best description I have heard of western lifestyle so far.

Speaking of which, I have ordered a DVD burner. ^_^ Just as you think you know me ...
