Jerry belonged to the second wave of townies who started visiting Micropolis after tourism was restored but before the rise of the apartment blocks. He has a few friends and many acquaintances, not least from his passion for fishing. He and Elizabeth met accidentally the year after she was widowed, and they both felt an unusually strong attraction. He decided to give her time, but after Elizabeth's daughter became a teenager, the three of them rented a family apartment in lower Micropolis.
